From Nowhere to Forever is currently in the process of being published by Harper-Collins/Zondervan publishing!. Jeff and his literary agent Chip MacGregor have finally found the right publishing house. Jeff hopes it will be available sometime in the Spring of 2026. It’s a work of narrative non-fiction that describes Jeff’s experience of six- and one-half years as an Al Qaeda hostage in northern Mali.

This book explores the journey of overcoming profound challenges; being taken hostage, experiencing trauma and captivity, enduring injury and grappling with depression and PTSD. It delves into the battle with both internal and external demons, the crumbling and rebirth of faith, and Jeff’s raw, real struggle with suicide.

It’s inspirational as well as practical, offering  hope grounded in real solutions. It  addresses how to navigate terrible events, trauma, depression and the search for identity.  With powerful insights, it provides readers with meaningful guidance on overcoming life’s toughest challenges. 

While not a story exclusively about faith, faith is definitely an important part of the story. As such, it will appeal to Christian readers as well as  readers of all faiths.

While this book is non-fiction, it is constructed and reads like a novel, with a narrative arc, a hero, etc. It’s a great story, with plenty of drama and action.
